Spot the Difference

Winter has arrived a little early with several recent snow flurries and a noticeable dip in temperatures. This has had the extraordinary effect of putting everyone in the mood for Christmas. Although it is still November I found myself singing along at full volume to Mariah Carey's , "All I Want for Christmas is You" (oooh ooooh ooooooh BABY!) whilst sitting in a huge traffic jam the other morning.
So this brings me to today's shoot with the fabulous {W} family. They wanted to replicate a family portrait taken several years back when the five of them were children. What a clever idea- right down to Mickey Mouse. Haven't they all aged so well too?

Tipping the Balance

We're lucky to have three wonderful children and three might be The Magic Number but it is an odd number. Our daughter has an older brother and a younger brother so sleepover for her is a really big deal as she gets to even the teams - suddenly she isn't in the minority anymore. It is great for us too as harmony reigns. The girls are happy and the boys are on their best behaviour because there's a guest in the house. I would recommend it!

Twice as Nice

I have to admit that the year between one and two is the most difficult to shoot. They're up on their feet by this stage but won't take direction so it was with some trepidation that I arrived at a shoot for twin boys. I needn't have worried as right from the offset they were so much fun. Two toddlers so alike and yet so different but both made me laugh the whole afternoon. {R} is quite the dancer already and {C} looks like he has a bright future as a stand-up comedian ahead of him.
Kudos to Mum and Dad though as having that much energy around all the time must be exhausting!

Sneaky Peek for {M} Family

Post and run tonight as I'm up to my eyes in work.
Speaking of eyes, what about this for a knowing look? Baby {A} was such a little darling through a long session. She smiled and played and didn't show any signs of flagging at all. A star is born!

I'm not a big fan of fiddling with photographs. Aside from conversions to black and white I think nice clean edits look best. I also think they'll look less dated when we look back on them in years to come.
That said, every now and then I see a shot that looks like it could take a little extra treatment. This is a recent example. {S} is a beautiful child with flawless radiant skin which I was reluctant to change but I went for a retro canvas look just for a change. I'm not about to change my style but they do say variety is the spice of life, don't they?
